Inground Pool Leak Repair
This page is for inground pools; above-ground and vinyl liner pools have their own repair page. Once the leak has been located, the repair becomes a clearly defined job, and the quote for it is free. Finding the leak first matters because it limits how much has to be disturbed to reach it. The same crew handles detection and repair, in Wilmington and throughout coastal North Carolina.
The repair follows the diagnosis
A separated skimmer, a failed fitting, a cracked line and a hairline crack in the shell are four different repairs with four different costs. Guessing which one you have is how a small problem turns into a large bill.
We repair the leaks we find. Because the leak has already been located, the repair starts in the right place.
What decides the cost of a repair is how much has to be opened to reach the leak. A leak that has been located can be reached through a small, targeted opening. One that has not is found by digging until it turns up, and that search usually costs more than the repair itself.
Not every leak needs to be repaired right away. A slow leak at a fitting on a pool that is due for other work may be better handled at the same time, and we will tell you so rather than quote the repair on its own.
What the repair depends on
- Where the leak is
- A fitting at the equipment pad and a line under the middle of the deck can fail the same way but are very different to reach.
- What covers the leak
- Soil, pavers, stamped concrete and tile each cost a different amount to open and restore.
- One joint or a whole line
- A single failed joint can be spliced. A deteriorated line has to be replaced. Testing tells us which before we quote.
- How the pool is built
- Gunite, concrete, fiberglass and painted plaster pools each fail in their own ways and need their own repair methods.
- Restoring the surface
- Restoring the surface is part of the job, not an afterthought. We tell you what the finished surface will look like before we start.

Do you repair the leak, or only locate it?
Both. We repair the leaks we locate.
Will the deck match afterward?
Before we open anything, we will tell you honestly what the restored area will look like. Stamped and colored concrete is difficult to match exactly, and you should know that before the work starts.
What if the repair does not hold?
Plumbing repairs are pressure tested once they are complete to confirm the leak has stopped. Every repair we make is covered by a one-year warranty: if our repair leaks again, we come back and put it right. Vinyl liner patches are the one exception, because a liner can be torn again by things outside our control.
How is this different from the leak detection visit?
Leak detection finds where the water is going. Repair is the work that follows. They often happen on the same visit, but they are separate jobs.
Do you repair every kind of leak?
No. Whether we take on a repair depends on where the leak is, what covers it and how the pool is built. If a repair is outside what we do, we will tell you.
