Pool painting
Pool painting refreshes the surface you already have. It is the shorter, less disruptive route when the shell is structurally sound and the problem is how the pool looks rather than what the surface is doing. If the surface itself has failed, painting over it postpones the decision rather than making it — and this page says so plainly, because the wrong choice here is expensive.

Preparation is most of the job
A pool is drained, cleaned and prepared before anything is applied. Preparation is the part that decides whether a coating holds, and it is where a cheap job is cheap — a surface that has not been properly prepared will not hold a finish no matter what goes on top of it.
Paint is a coating over the existing surface. It does not add structure and it does not repair a shell that is failing. Where we find damage during preparation we will tell you before continuing, because covering it is not a repair.
What to establish before painting
The questions worth answering before anyone quotes a price, in the order they matter.
- Is the pool holding water?
- A pool losing water needs the leak located first. Painting a leaking pool means draining and repainting again after the repair.
- What is the current surface?
- What is already on the pool determines what can be applied over it, and whether it has to come off first.
- Condition of the shell
- Cracking, hollow spots and delamination are structural questions, not cosmetic ones. Paint does not solve them.
- Paint or resurface
- A cosmetic refresh and a surface replacement are different jobs at different prices. If the surface has failed, resurfacing is the honest answer.
- Downtime
- The pool is out of use while it is drained, prepared, coated and cured. We will give you the schedule for your pool before work starts.

Questions people ask
Can you paint a pool that is leaking?
Not sensibly. The leak should be located and repaired first, or the pool gets drained and repainted twice. Locating leaks is what we do, so this is one call rather than two contractors.
Should I paint or resurface?
Painting is a coating over the surface you have; resurfacing replaces that surface. If the shell is sound and it is a cosmetic refresh, painting is the shorter job. If the surface itself has failed, resurfacing is the answer.
How long is the pool out of use?
It depends on the pool, the preparation needed and the weather, so we give you a schedule for your pool rather than a number off a website.
Do you paint commercial pools?
Yes. Tell us the constraint when you call and we will schedule around when the pool is in use.
