A slab leak is a supply or drain line losing water underneath a concrete floor. The damage shows up long before the cause does — a warm patch of floor, a water bill that climbs for no reason, the sound of running water with everything turned off. Locating it accurately is the whole job, because the alternative is opening concrete to look. This service is offered in Florida.
Find it before anything is opened
Lines are isolated and pressure-tested so the loss can be narrowed to a specific run rather than a room. A line that holds is ruled out, and ruling out is as useful as finding.
Acoustic listening and thermal imaging then locate the point itself through the slab. The output is a marked location, so whoever does the repair opens one area rather than searching — which is the difference between a patch and a floor.
Signs of a slab leak
Any one of these is worth a call. Several together usually means a line under the slab.
- A warm spot on the floor
- A hot-water line losing water under the slab warms the floor above it.
- The water bill climbing
- A rise with no change in usage is water going somewhere it is not being used.
- Running water with everything off
- Audible flow when no fixture is on points at a line that is not holding.
- Damp or lifting flooring
- Moisture surfacing at the slab edge, or flooring lifting with no spill to explain it.
- Low pressure
- Pressure that has dropped off without an obvious cause can be loss upstream of the fixtures.
- Cracks in the slab or walls
- Long-running loss under a slab can move the ground beneath it. Worth ruling out.

How is this different from underground leak detection?
